Where did you drive your Elan today?

Hiroaki, I’d love to visit Japan and connect with some of the Lotus owners. I’ve met a few who bring their Lotus formula cats out to Sydney for historic race meetings.

Do you know what colour blue to Europa is? I’m about to paint my S2 Elan in pale blue.

Cheers Vaughan

I spent the morning yesterday toodling around local roads with a British car club. Quite a variety of vehicles were on hand.

**vstibbard、**That light blue color looks like it was repainted, but I’m not sure.

Went to a local car and coffee this afternoon in the Elise, a good turn out, 53 cars. Sat in a mint Espada, but it was awful, really terrible, must have been made for people with no left leg and 4’ tall. The worst ignition position and driving position I have ever encountered, not surprising Harry Metcalfe is selling his

cheers

ps

An interesting bike with the Elise in the background and a nice Fiat..

Well yesterday,13th Nov I took the Elan to Screwfix to pick up a two gang electrical socket. After a good warm up I came home via what is termed locally as the “Clatterbridge Road” named after the local hospital. I can just say that the performance in 2nd and 3rd is phenominal for a car that is 52 years old, just loved the crescendo of nosie from the engine and exhaust ….. amazing.

cheers

Why would someone name a road after a hospital?

It’s slang… the proper name is Birkenhead Road/Willaston Road/Clatterbridge Road.

I went up to the snow line!

Ok it is only the petrol station down the road. But for me a big drive having sorted a couple of bent valves, fitted a type9 gearbox and QED efi.

A couple of days ago I drove the Sprint, in lovely sunny spring weather, around the country roads and lanes of Essex, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. Goodness, we are blessed with some wonderful Elan driving roads in this area.

I did around 60 miles. The reason was to do a recce for a classic car group road trip later this year. The most important element was to find a decent stop for lunch, of course!

I’m now writing up the proposed route with tulip notes. Closer to the day I’ll have to do another drive to check timings and mileages. I’m already looking forward to the day, though.
