Barn find

Interesting pin striping and a nice find

I am fascinated by that photo.
Do you see that light coloured coachline from under the headlight to the rear of the car.
I have some photos of my car passed on from the previous owner showing it before it was painted in 2006 and they show a very similar line along the side.
I didn’t know what to think of it until just now and there is another one.
Mine is a blue S3SE drop head and looks a dead ringer for that one except for the gold bumper.
Has anyone else seen one of these and who was doing it. I had assumed that mine was a personal thing from one of the many owners.

Walk into any car accessory shop in the late 60s, early 70s and anyone could pick up a role of stripe tape and apply it anyhow they wished to their car. All sorts of colours and believe me, all sorts of ways to apply it to your Cooper, Anglia, Sprite or whatever. Its an old photo of a Sprint, now restored.

Back to the subject:

Thanks Tim,
Just a go faster stripe then. I remember them. It just seemed to be a co-incidence.

Car got first prize! Ok there was only a few cars and the “Jury” somehow decided mine was better (may be the “go faster double stripes”!!) than a much more original brown +2 and superb Europa. Still was delighted to bits!!

Oh… I meant to go… Missed it.

Castle Combe … trying hard!

PS - now have a double front arb … can try harder!

Continuing the little tidy up jobs, this time the grill and front number plate update
Old home made version which came with the car

New version using grill supplied by Eric Bushy

Now then, that looks better doesn’t it.

Spot the differences… The odd one out is the one in the middle for not living in the same street as the other two. Good meeting you guys and sorry we missed each others at Silverstone.

Where, what history?

1979 ish. Sold my ?lan reg no 3777 VZ to buy a Europa CIJ 6116.
It was a mistake, however I made much worse one’s since.

Farmer frame repair:

With the usual re-enforcement and ready for another 50 years!

What did you use for paint? John

Gary Anderson’s formula matched to the paint on my tunnel pad. IH harvester red mixed with red oxide primer from my local farm store.
