I have the two speed W14 (I think it is) motor, and no wiper switch mechanism, or at least none I can get working. What modern replacement can I use, preferably one that does not need a relay? If there is one that has push for intermittent or activates the motor and the washer pump then that would be even better.
Hopefully then I can change the actual knob for something more period.
What switch arrangement do you have now? It doesn’t sound like the usual two switches on the facia.
Quick edit: After a look at the workshop manual I’m guessing that you have the manual system, one knob that actually is the washer pump and the wiper switch. I’ll retreat to the garage now as I’ll be of no help.
I am having a bit of a battle with my 14W at the moment because if I connect the park wire it blows the fuse on parking.

Hi Berni, the wiper switch that you show in the Ebay link will not work correctly with your 14w wiper motor as it does not make the same connections internally as the original switch.
The o/e switch has 4 terminals and works as follows :-
Off connects terminals 1&2
Slow connects terminals 2&3
Fast connects terminals 3&4
Terminal 1 connects to the wiper plug pin 2 with a white/yellow wire
Terminal 2 connects to the wiper plug pin 5 with a yellow wire
Terminal 3 is switched 12v feed and is not connected to the wiper plug
Terminal 4 connects to the wiper plug pin 3 with a light green wire
Wiper plug pin 1 is an earth (black wire)
Wiper plug pin 4 is a 12v feed from the fuse box (green wire)
The switch that you have merely connects a common pin (B) to the others in turn… see below.
Hi Berni, Before you send the switch back try adding a relay into the park circuit as shown in the second diagram below … I presume that you have wired it as per the first diagram…
I cut the back off the standard switch removed the rubber bulb and replaced it with a spring and micro switch that operates the washer pump via a relay.
I 3d printed the micro switch mounting. Quite happy to share the file if anyone is interested.

I’ll be interested to know if the relay breaks the connection between the yellow and white yellow wires before the switch applies +12v to the yellow! If you find that you’re still blowing fuses then I can come up with a diagram using a change-over relay…
You appear to have won a prize. Following your advice above the switch works and no longer blows a fuse on park. The relay is energised when the wiper is at the park position, but I guess that does not matter as its on a switched live so no battery drain issues.
Could we revisit this wiper switch issue a minute, not the part about the windshield washer squirter switch but just the wiper switch going to the 14 W motor through the AP (auto park) switch. Because I replaced the AP switch and checked out my motor by working it independently and I still can’t get The wipers to come on or not blow a fuse. So the last piece to buy and try is the wiper switch itself, which I show below that I got from a US supplier for my +2, and I don’t see that there are four terminals that I can figure out how you’re saying to connect it, but rather there are six terminals, so how would this be wired to the auto park switch? And I do see in the wiring diagram for the car that there should just be four wires coming off the switch, which also confuses me as it does appear this is a correct replacement switch. And also the plug that goes into the back of the auto park switch just has four wires in it as well. So how would it work with the wires coming off of this six prong switch? Thanks, Gordon.
Hi Gordon,
As you say, the wiring diagram shows 4 wires connected to the dashboard switch and appears to indicate that they are connected to the ‘corner’ terminals. This would make sense as the two middle terminals are connected across the back of the switch shown in your picture above.
Would you check the terminal connections with the switch in the off/slow/fast positions using the numbers in the picture below?
I have quoted you above from an earlier post in another thread as I am confused when you state that there are 4 wires from the switch to the motor plug (or have I misunderstood your comment?) There are only 3 wires from the switch to the motor plug plus an earth and a seperate live feed for the park function.
In the circled, one in each case is my starting point checking continuity from there to the others so like very bottom right picture I’m on the very lower left tank and it has continuity with the two middle tanks and the lower right one directly across from it. And here’s also a picture that was just in yesterday when somebody’s doing their dash and I snapped it and it shows these wires coming off the wiper switch which as you say shows the two center ones unused. Oh, and I’ll also you right there five wires for the back of that plug and then one for the top for the ground.

It would appear that you got the switch the right way up… the off position connects the lower two corners as shown in your first diagram (‘switch at top’). Wire the switch as shown in the attached drawing and it should be working correctly.
As stated previously there is no connection to the centre two terminals.
Be aware that if you are bench testing the motor without the wiper mechanism attached then the motor may not stop at the park position, the motors inertia taking it past the parking point due to the lack of 'drag’from the wiper blades.

Sue hat gesagt, dass diese Schalter etwas tiefer sitzen als das Original und man die erhöhten Holz-Abstandshalter auf der Rückseite des Armaturenbretts entfernen muss, damit sie passen.
