There are two different hand brake cables at SJ Sportcars. Do anyone know which car the two types belong to?
Hi Tomcat
Sue Miller sells a cable about 5cm shorter than original. this allows the handbrake tree to operate at a more efficient angle and the adjuster thread to be at a better position in the chassis threaded hole. This along with adjustable rods from Sue has made my handbrake very effective. It will now hold the car on a 1 in 6 hill.
Ask Sue and she will advise you.

If you have a Spyder chassis the location of the cable adjuster boss on the chassis can be a problem. On mine it had been welded on too far forward, thereby shortening the effective length of the cable. With the short version cable and with the adjuster fully screwed in, the cable end would not reach the tree in the off position. With a standard length cable I still had to cut off 10mm from the cable sheath and also file back the front end of the boss a little.
If anyone is doing a chassis change (especially Spyder) I would recommend comparing distance from front of boss to the tree off position on the old and new chassis.

Thank’s! Heard much about handbrake not working. //Fredrik
Tomcat,
I assume you are in the UK. I used a company called Cable Tec, the Sutton in Ashfield branch, to make me a cable to dimensions I provided. I had read several posts about cables that didn’t fit and decided to do my own thing. Cable Tec offered a stainless version, given how difficult this thing is to change when the body is back on the chassis I thought stainless would last longer than me.
Hope this helps,
