I think the reason for a Tremec is the available gear ratios.
Likely a tighter shift feel too?
Does the output end of the R7ME seem large, vs opening of the Elan tunnel?
I dont see measurements out there, if you find them could they be posted please.
Don’t know the dimensions yet but it looks like shifter location would not be a problem.
