The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Club 5 Yearly Survey

May I please urge all UK Elan enthusiasts to complete the National Historic Vehicle Survey, organised by the FBHVC.

To quote them: ‘The FBHVC will have to argue even more strongly for historic vehicles to retain their current access and freedoms on our roads in the coming years as we navigate the most challenging period in our history. To defend our freedom to use yesterday’s vehicles on tomorrow’s roads, we need your help completing this crucial survey.’

Thanks,

Tim

Done :innocent:

It went on a bit and asked searching questions regarding tractors and buses, but I managed to keep a straight face.

Your Right Spyder Fan - what a Faff.
I hope it helps inform how many historic car enthusiast are out there.

It seems to me that they are marshalling an argument in favour of our beloved Historic Vehicles based on economic activity. There were quite a few questions asking how much money you spend on the hobby.

Completed but I do agree it did go on a bit!

Alan.

Chaps, I feel we should allow them that; it is a once every five year survey, after all!

I have also completed the survey and agree with all the previous comments that it does go on a bit but if it helps our hobby so much the better.

I’ve just completed this Tim - thanks for bringing it to our attention.

FBHV. are in discussion with the DVLA regarding registration of old cars. Do Read articles on the FBHV site. Its scary! At an extreme the DVLA are sugesting that A recently manufactured part by an after market supplier would require notification as a modification. This may cause the dvla to remove a “historic” status and go as far as re registering with a Q plate!!!
FBHV are pointing out that such a move could destroy the classic market. Yes they are identifying the size of the market and the revenue/ job losses that would result.
Filling in the questionaire will be very helpfull.
