Yes and Yes…
I’ll be there (VWW 965F white Plus2) with the bits in the boot to convert to efi (Mondeo edis) and will be back at the car at 12:00…
John
This year their featured car is the Elan.
How many of you guys are planning to attend?
?1 off tickets if you order them now
I will be going. Not sure if I will take my Elan though, depends on the weather.
I’m going in my +2 what ever the weather !
Could we have a table in the restaurant labled Lotuselan.net like there was at Donington ? It was nice putting faces to cars and names.
Matt
Hi all,
Will be there (nice and early to see if there are any bargains!)
Should be there in the +2…
Dark red with vinyl roof…
Would be good to meet up for a bacon butty
Tim
I’ll be there, but not in the +2 as the MOT man broke it
I finally fitted my Mick Miller shafts though, ‘easy fit’ my arse!!
Still looking for rear MK1 Spyder springs.
Jason
Jason
Mk1 spyder springs?
Are they not just standard 2.5" springs?
John
I don’t know,
I asked Spyder and they said they did not keep records that go that far back so I need to upgrade to the MK2 suspension
If I was using the car every day I would quite happily spend the ?1,000 +VAT, but at the moment I have other priorities. So am looking for the cheap option
I would imagine that the spring rate of the originals would be ok on the Spyder chassis as the weight of the car would not have changed that much? So I just need to find that.
Thanks
Jason
Hi Jason,
Would it be cheaper to convert back to original spec on the suspension. Bit’s from Stonleigh perhaps?
I’m not familiar with the spyder set up in detail so I guess it depends on how much of the orig bits are missing. Just a thought anyway.
Btw. I know what you mean about fitting solid driveshafts - I didn’t find it easy either
The shocks are Koni unitsso if they are standard off the shelf coil over dampers, when I finally manage to get the springs off I should be able to order the new Koni shocks.
The standard springs are 16 inches and rated 93 lbs/in, so I just need to measure the springs and check they are the same length as standard
Getting there
Hmmm, I’m in London with my old father that weekend. What better way to spend a sunday?
Any info, adress, map, web-site, entrace fee etc? How to get there by train from London?
Bjorn,
Check the website given below. They should be able to give you the information you need.
Tickets ?6 or ?5 when pre-booked.
I hope to be there in my +2. I can’t believe it has been so trouble free since I got back from classic le Mans! I even had to rescue my brother the other day when his latest car ( 4.5 lightweight TVR Cerbera - 202 mph) broke down in norfolk. Lotus 1 - TVR 0 !
Chris
Worth a visit it is.
Cheers.
Jason,
I’ve just put on a set of the smaller diameter Spyder springs onto my 2 year old Spyder Chapman struts.
That means that I have a spare set of original upper and lower spring seats for the standard diameter springs (and a spare set of standard springs, come to think of it). The upper seats are original Lotus but the lowers are designed to fit the diameter of the Spyder strut.
Don’t know what the Spyder MK1s look like.
Any good to you?
Regards,
Hamish.
