Now, both pop up head lamp cars are together. The tin one was sleeping for more than 30 years. It left LA in the eighties and was then forgotten. Though standing outside, it survived quite intact.
Hi
Both cool cars. I have a soft spot for the 914’s.
All the best

Very nice! I had a 50% share in a crusty 914/6 some 37 years ago. My friend with his 71 Mini Cooper and myself with my Volvo 1800S were a bit naive about Porsche part prices, before we bought the shed for 9.000 Deutschmarks. We quickly realized that the completely rotten heat exchangers were almost 5.000 DM alone. But the engine, brakes and quite some areas of the body needed attention as well. With students budgets, we sold it to the first offering what we had paid…
Always had a hankering for a 914/6, having had half a dozen early 911’s in the past. A friend of mine has a 914 with a Subaru Legacy engine in the back. Quite a common conversion in the States. About 130 bhp, so very similar to the 914/6 power, but lighter.
Surprised it’s lighter, given the extra weight of the water cooling hardware required for the Subaru engine.
It’s the 4-cyl engine (H4 & very compact), so all alloy, & much lighter than the flat 6, with an aluminium radiator, & alu tube up to the front of the car.
