I have a late S2 with the chrome lifts that sandwich the glass. One of the lifters is loose and I’d like to replace it because it also looks very tired, ie, chrome missing, deep scratches, etc. How does one remove these things? I’m guessing they’re glued together so maybe some adhesive release of some sort? Ideas?
The window lifters for S2 & 26R are rare little items, I can’t see any available online. They are glued in place (2 pack epoxy).
The flat outer plate has 2 posts that pass through the glass and locate inside the lifter. The originals were cast in bronze then chrome plated, replacements if you can find them in stock are cast in aluminium which either require polishing or come polished depending upon where they are sourced.
Acetone will soften epoxy
