Radiator for Full Race Elan

Hi Guys,

I’m building up an Elan racer and I’m trying to decide whether to go with the TTR 2 row or 3 row rad. I’m in the Toronto area but I’m sure I’ll head south occasionally. Does any one in a hot climate have any experience with these TTR rads? Is there a downside to the three row rad? Thanks much.

Best regards,

Mine is a road car but i have used it on track in about 30 degrees C heat.

I only went with their cheaper option:

And it managed perfectly.

Sorry that I don’t have any info about the other 2 rads they offer

I have the big rad in my race car. I don’t run a thermostat. The water rarely gets above 70 C when the car is in motion, obviously it heats up when stationary and the fan controls that. I’m in the UK, it sometimes gets warm! I would say it is perhaps slightly too big. The only other consideration is the weight of the extra water it holds.

Hi Chris and Graeme,

Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. I agree that the “King Kong” rad is a bit too large for most races north of Gibraltar as around 85C is something like an ideal water temp. It can get pretty hot in Canada so I shall go with the middle option from TTR and use a fan when I’m stooging about it the paddock.

Best regards,
JonnyP2
