I am rebuilding a 1973 plus2 130/5 which has a folding vinyl sunroof that needs replacing or a pretty major renovation.
I have seen the web sites for the Hollandia Roof and sent messages to them for further info all to no avail.
Can anyone advise or recomend a good reliable supplier or fitter that could help.?
Do you know the original make? Many were Webasto, and there are plenty of folks who repair those…

The sunroof framework removed is so deteriorated that its difficult to find any identification marks but l suspect it is a Webasto. Thanks for the lead, l will give them a try.

Nigel, does it have wood in the frame? I believe the Webasto’s did. Mine is a NOS Britax / Weathershield (the other common brand from the period), and the frame and attachment hardware is all metal. We got dealer installed Weathershield’s in Canada, but as mentioned I understand most markets got Webasto.
Good luck with the repair, and do report back how it works out. I really like my roof, and it would be a shame to loose it as an original period feature.

My elan does not have a sunroof. However I did view a +2 with a britax sunroof fitted.
I have rebuilt Britax myself using a kit from littleportboathaven.co.uk/br … unroof.htm
Came out quite good and much better than a replacement unit I was sent by a roof specialist.
I followed these steps :
m.met-alchemy.com/site/mobile?dm … rk=fw#1222
But I used 2mm aluminium and riveted what was left of my steel, after blasting, to the front and rear . I don’t have an “English wheel” to work the steel properly. Aluminum is easy for me to curve !
The kit I bought included everything, even the captive nuts… but not glue
The folding frame l removed did have a wooden frame and something like one hundred screws to hold it all in place.
I assume Stu, that this makes it very likely to be a Webasto.
Thanks guys for the leads. I wasnt sure if Britax ever made folding roofs for the Elans and the idea of a metal frame sounds interesting. I imagine it will provide a little more headroom than the wooden frame version l removed.
There isnt much room for another set of mounting holes so presumably l may have to fill in most of them and start again.?
I have also been given a lead to RS Coachbuilt who apparently provide a full new Webasto kit and installation manual to fit yourself. The only problem so far is they dont respond to messages or calls so l am not sure if they are still in business? Has anyone come across them?

Yes, that sounds like the Webasto photo’s I have seen. My NOS Britax is like the instruction link above, with steel pieces shaped to the roof contour; these add rigidity to the roof in front of and behind the hole cut in the roof panel. I believe the Webasto used wood for these pieces, but that is just based on seeing pictures. I assume the wooden pieces were sanded to the roof contour? Somewhere I have a hard copy the original Britax installation instructions.
The Britax is probably a similar thickness to the Webasto. With both designs the side rails and latching mechanism have to be accommodated below the roof line. The Plus 2 headliner is then attached to the bottom of the rails with glue; they have a kind of I beam lip that provides a place for this so the glue doesn’t show from below.
For selecting a replacement, hopefully the Webasto line would provide a model with the same roof cutout size?
