Can anyone say whether the hinge castings were body coloured originally or just left zinc plated?
I have the opportunity to do one or the other as part of a hinge rebuild so may as well get it ‘correct’

all the ones I have seen are painted. I suspect that the doors fitted before painting.

Likewise I’ve only ever seen them painted but given the frequency with which old Loti were subsequently painted I’ve never known if that was factory or not.
Equally I can’t imagine Lotus carefully painting the naked door shells off the car, then fitting the hinges and then carefully hanging the doors!
…but plated hinges might just look good?
