Just seen this on PM’s website …
paulmattysportscars.co.uk/lotus-parts-online/
Hopefully someone will pick it up.
All the suppliers do a good job as it can’t be easy.
Fingers crossed.
Wow… I was at Matty mid-January… the showroom at the front of the property has been taken over by an Estate Agents (Realtor in American.)
I know Paul tried to see the business as a whole a couple of years ago, obviously winding down bit by bit now…
As a long time customer of Paul’s, I am very sorry to hear this news. I do hope this business moves into safe hands, both for Paul’s employees’ sake and for us as enthusiasts. There was another thread about local jobbing machine shops closing down as the proprietors retired. The last thing we need as enthusiasts is for the specialist suppliers that we rely upon to close down.
Personally I think it very unlikely that PM will be able to sell the parts business, but Susan and others will surely be rubbing their hands together, not that she is looking to increase her workload dramaticly.
And bare in mind, how much longer is Sue going to want to carry on her business? No one is getting any younger.

I’ve been advised of this…

Tim Garrington previously worked for Paul Matty
The link to the business that Richard highlights does not say anything about them selling Lotus parts, but I suppose they could start.

wow, that’s a bit of a shock, PM was already a forefront vintage Lotus parts supplier when I picked up my first elan more than 3 decades ago… I sort of remember that there was a warning along the same line a few years ago though.
Can’t be easy to organize the production of low volume parts in this time and age, plus maintain a sufficient quality level for a whole range and low volume. I do hope someone will carry the flame, would it only be for the selfish interest that I see some concurrence a necessity to keep the service up.
We were at Paul Matty`s just a couple of weeks ago , for what might be our last visit to those wonderful old premises , whilst getting a load of parts for my Sprint …
The Workshop & its Staff had already moved to Stourport ... but the Showroom was full of cars as business as usual , with Super Clive still in charge of Parts as normal at the back ... & even though change was in the air , Im hopeful it will continue in some shape or form … as we have truly loved the Paul Matty set up
.
Paul .
Just called into Paul Mattys today as I have been going there since the 1980s and thought would have a last look around. I had a chat with Paul and he said he is hopefull about selling the parts department.
Just called Matty’s with a parts request and was advised it is now closed and has been sold. They wouldn’t tell me who has bought it but advised it will reopen in approx. 2 weeks.
How about this then…
Regards
Richard
As a very satisfied customer of Paul Matty for many years I’m really pleased to hear that ! ![]()
Great news!
