Looking for reasonably priced pistons specifically. I dealt with a company that would make you any piston you wanted a few years ago at a reasonable cost. Reasonable cost is apparently gone. 4 pistons for prices over 1 K!!

QED sells Omega forged pistons for a more reasonable price ($163-$193/ea depending on version). Shipping to the US will add a chunk to that, but it’s an option: https://qedmotorsport.co.uk/lotus-twin-cam/pistons/
And this is why looking at different engines, unless your vintage racing or want period correct.
Caterham uses Duratec. We know they fit
Well this is a very early original car. I toyed with just setting this engine in a corner and fitting a Zetec. Had the correct low miles Zetec located for $400.

Does a Duratec fit without significant modification? Exhaust and intake are reversed and the Duratec is about 2" longer and 3" taller from base of block to top of valve cover.
Duratec is not an easy fit. Zetec is better but I think the front crossmember needs cutting away slightly possibly
Have you checked with Tony Ingram Racing? CP & Carrillo Parts
or Ivey Engines? Parts - Ivey Engines, Inc.
The alternative is to post for some good but used pistons for the bore you need.
The Duratec family of engines are plentiful, used from 2001 till today. Now called eco-boost and the 3cyl is almost 300hp like the GR 3cyl. About 95 kilograms. 25yr old Duratec’s found in every Ford Mazda Volvo etc. While one could take a 3cyl Ecoboost and make it work, unless turbo, lower power than the 4. The information is on here about the Duratec, unfortunately nothing with blueprints or specifications or modifications required. I hear like the Zetec, the Duratec also requires chassis modifications.
For us Left Hand Steering countries this puts the exhaust on the passenger and intake on drivers which may also add complexity with master cylinders etc.
The reason Caterham has been using the Duratec since 2002 is its fast revving, maybe because of the windage tray & in the 2L short stroke etc. complaints are few, but, they are not sleeved and are aluminum. I am speaking of the 2005-2011(ish) Duratecs, 1.8, 2, 2.3, 2.5L. The 2.3 may be too tall, the 2L requires Miata or Ranger or _____ front covers, sump, valve cover, water-return etc
That’s my thread
I also have a 2.4L Duratec in the Caterham, so I’m quite familiar with the engines.
Back to the original question in this thread, the CP pistons posted above seem quite reasonably priced and there are no international shipping charges for nomad.
Sure, matching costs are the same, though what seems like better $/km with a modern tc
P.s sort of why i added your post from usa7
I think you might find that Racetech at Huntington Beach, CA, will do some forged pistons at a reasonable price.
They make both road and race pistons, from memory the road ones are called ‘Roadtech’.
Some years ago [pre pandemic] I was dealing with a company that would make any piston I wanted if I gave them the specs. At the time a set of four was around $600. Sounds like Ray is suggesting such a company. Going to check out Stress Cracks suggestions tomorrow and England after that.

As long as the bore size is close to one of the forging blanks they stock, they can make whatever you like. Twink pistons would be simple for them, they’ve probably done them in the past.
I upgraded to a 1700 two years ago, I have the original pistons & pins, 55,235 miles on them, I am in PA. Let me know if you have interest in them.
Yes, I might if i had not ordered new from QED…
