So as I couldn’t live with the 5 speed I have refitted the original four speed and all original parts to the car.
Thus all the parts to allow the Lotus 5 speed gearbox to fit into the 2 seater Elan are for sale. List as Follows.
- One complete box, rebuilt by Graham Boulton (have receipt for work)
- One box rebuilt by the people on the Wirral and checked by Graham Boulton (have receipt), however this box apperaed to have lots of brass in the oil on the first oil change. No bell housing or tail shaft housing.
- One brand new Borg/Beck full clutch assy still in box.
- One “brand new” Helix full clutch assy done 500 miles just taken out of car.
- A couple of release bearings. Not 3rd world ones.
- A couple of thrust bearing carriers.
- Spare 5 speed gear lever, chrome, threads and rubbers in good condition.
- 5 speed gaiter to fit centre console, also may have a spare one
- New centre console from Mattys, cut to take item (8)
- New prop shaft and UJ’s. This is the correct length, machined and balance by Firows.
- Spigot bearing carrier and spigot bearing.
- Five speed gear knob.
- Rear mounting bracket (gearbox to chassis) complete with rubber mount.
£1500 buyer collects.
