Mystery Part

So; I finally fired up the plus two for the first time this weekend, so i am starting to see some light at the end of what has been a somewhat longish tunnel.

now the best part… sorting out all the “extra bits”

any guesses where the following item goes? it looks like some sort of heat shield.

Heat (or maybe radio suppressor?) shield that fixes to the top two bellhousing-to-engine block bolts, between engine & bulkhead. Can make a rattly noise at the ‘right’ frequency/revvs…

I agree, right location, but believe it is more radio supressor than heatshield.

Alex

Looks like it’s aluminium and homemade, does it fit as an exhaust heat shield anywhere?

Mike

Definitely fits where Mathew suggests. The only exhaust heatshield on a +2 is above the rear (only!) silencer. The left front leg of the chassis effectively acts as a heatshield between the manifold and body.

Looks like you have your answer so perhaps you will forgive me for hijacking this thread slightly. Can someone take a look under Parts Wanted header +2 Pedal Box.

I have posted a picture of a pedal box but not sure what it’s off - there is a black plastic electrical switch of some kind sticking out of the top.

Your pointers would be appreciated.

Steve

thanks for the reply guys, it makes sense now (radio shield on bell housing).

dunno about the switch you’re mentioning Steve, maybe you could post a pic? the most obvious thing that pops to mind is a hydraulic fluid level sender/warning light.

over steer, that is the radio suppressor plate fitted to some (it would seem) cars, as for the pedal box with the switch built into it, my s130 had this set up for the brake light switch, earlier cars had the brake switch in the copper brake line on a brass T
