Utilisateurs mobiles et tablettes - configurez LotusElan.net comme une icône sur l'écran d'accueil

Our forum software allows you to set up LotusElan.net to be an icon/app on the home screen of your mobile and tablet devices.

For Apple devices

  1. Open LotusElan.net in the Safari browser on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing up).
  3. Scroll down and select “Add to Home Screen”.
  4. Choose a name for the icon and tap “Add”.
  5. This creates an icon on your home screen that opens the forum in a full-screen, app-like window, supporting push notifications.

For Android devices

  1. Open LotusElan.net in your Chrome browser on your Android device.
  2. Tap the three-dots menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  3. Select “Add to Home screen” or “Install app” (the wording can vary slightly).
  4. Confirm by tapping “Add” when prompted, and the forum will appear as an app-like icon on your home screen, opening in a dedicated app window.

This will create an app-like experience that runs LotusElan.net in full-screen mode on your device.

For the techies in the group, LotusElan.net is a Progressive Web App (PWA). It runs in a container installed on your device. The container runs under the Chrome/Safari engine, but appears to run as a standalone app. It provides all the benefits of an app, without the technical headaches.

I run it on my iPhone and iPad.

p.s. you can also do the same on your windows desktops, but it has some quirks.

Also, I would guess if you save it as in your favourite reading section if it’s under topics or +2 or whatever that’s the thing when you click, it will open in your browser?

The point being if you save it under the thread that you’re reading that thread will always open?

But I’ve been wrong before, Likely to be incorrect again?

If you swipe up on the app in the middle of a topic and then come back later, it picks up where you left off at.

If you hard close the app, it will start over.

And by starting over, is it saving the application or the topic that you were on or how does it save, I haven’t experimented?

I suppose traditionally if you bookmark a webpage URL or specific topic within that chart form or webpage this is what you have bookmarked or saved

This would be an independent application from your browser.

You can still access the forums via your browser, your favorites, your bookmarks, etc. Nothing would change within your browser world.

This alternate approach allows you to access the forums without first going to your browser.
