Has anyone come across MCH175D Series 3 Elan drophead? I owned the car in the early 70’s having bought it in Sheffield with about 20k on the clock. I sold it 3 years later with about 110k on the clock having had totally trouble free motoring although it was starting to use a bit of oil! Most memorable drive was London to Barcelona with girlfriend and frame tent in 21 hours including the ferry crossing; but you could do that sort of thing then and anyway I was desperate to get her into that tent! A few years ago a chap from Sheffield became a very close friend and it transpires that he was the original owner. Small world. I don’t think that it will be still wearing the origilal registration. It was originally red but I think that it was re-sprayed by someone in Chesterfield in red-over-white Gold leaf colours. Both my friend and myself would love to know what has happened to the car since and we would also be interested in owning it again.
