Cames McCoy 450

I am trying to find if these are available. Used the contact email address from this forum, [email protected]

But no reply. It may well be that getting these from the States would be too expensive but i’d like to know. Alternative will be the QED 450s but Rohan’s analysis suggests slightly better lower range torque with the McCoys.

Anyone got better email or info?

Paul

I’ve had good luck using the info on their Contact Us page:

Many Thanks, have emailed.

No joy with that either so looks like QED 450s.

If you want, I can try to reach him on your behalf – I recently purchased one of his engines, so I generally get a response. If you’d like to try that before going with the QEDs, send me a PM with the email address you used and when you sent the email, and I’ll share with John.

The QED 450’s are to long duration Newman make a 440 lift 280 duration cam which is better

Thank you Rohan. I had an unfortunate experience with Newman some years back when the camshaft supplied was ground incorrectly ( this was my S2 7 in 1967!) but I never felt confident in the cam after that. Suspect things are different now. In those days it was a hut on the A21.

Thanks John. Have PM’d

You must have been one of his first customers as the business opened in 1967 according to his web site. I suspect things have changed since then but you will note the valve lift versus cam lobe lift table for the Twincam is incorrect as it does not properly allow for the clearance affect on valve lift versus cam lobe lift.

cheers
Rohan
