Reason: Continuous illumination of lamp with boot lid closed, causing unnecessary drain on battery, due to possible incorrect fitting of actuating bracket.

Action:
  1. With the boot lid in the fully open position, ensure that the romp of the actuating bracket (which operates the switch), is uppermost as shown in the illustration.
  2. If the bracket is mounted as shown ‘dotted’ in the illustration, then the lamp will be permanently illuminated, therefore, remove and re-fit bracket in -its correct position.
  3. Finally, check that the lamp is being extinguished by the operation of the actuating bracket upon the switch, which should occur BEFORE the boot lid engages its switch.
