Theres quite a collection of videos that tout Lotus cars and in particular Elans. Heres another one. Feel free to add your own here too.
This could be an interesting thread.
Most mornings I watch some YouTube while eating my breakfast and also find it a good way to keep me entertained while on the treadmill. A lot of it is classic car based. Quite a few videos about elans.
I like this one:
Those folks have quite a collection. They are a bit of an acquired taste, but they’re straightforward and go into real detail, and I love their cars, so it’s worthwhile to me.
They are a bit weird to me, but I agree they have a great collection. It will be great to add more videos to this list, especially the odd ones out there. Im sure we have all seen Harrys Garage videos about his Elan. Still one of my favorite ones. I MIGHT start a separate thread of the Elans ‘in action’ on the track so I can consolidate Horacio Fitz-Simons’ videos and a few other 26R videos I have saved as well
There is some great elan racing on YouTube.
How about this for a start:
The white number 44 you see at the start on the left used to be one of my dads cars
Completely. The way he is describing it really takes me back to when I first got my elan and one of the first proper trips I did in it was a long weekend boys trip from Bristol to Anglesey for a track day with some friends from the Uni motor club. The journey involves about 6 hours of winding Welsh B-roads and it was the first time I had really pushed the car. I just couldn’t believe how engaging the car was at not ridiculous speeds.
Might as well add this here. Not sure if y’all on that side of the pond have heard of Horacio Fitz-Simon but he’s a bit of a local hero to us Elan fans here in California. Here’s one of his epic battles at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion against another enthusiastic driver in a Cobra
Great Video. Horatio has been racing vintage here in the US and in the UK.
The driver of the Cobra is Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Co.
That is a very quick elan being driven with a lot of skill. Thank you for sharing. I thought I had seen all the good elan YouTube footage but not seen that before.
@ElansS41970 Thank you! My Elan is one of the earliest known Super Safety’s I never knew this film existed.
