How can i tell what Ration my 2 speed gearbox is?

Hi, HELP!!!

Can anyone help me to find out what my 4 speed gearbox ratio is. I do know it came out of a Lotus Elan.

Mark the input and output shafts and measure the number of turns it takes to make one turn of the output in 1st gear

Thanks, bur i dont have a gear stick so i cant put it into 1st gear?

Take the aluminum cover off and count the teeth. I don’t have the chart with me, but someone will turn up that does.

Have taken off the top but what teeth there are several from lert to right diff thickness?

The smallest gear (in diameter) is the main/4th gear. I just looked at some notes I had online and it looks like the standard ratio has 17 teeth and the close ratio 19 teeth.

Note - 1st gear and reverse gear have the same number of teeth for the various gearboxes.
