Hi All. Second query of the week! Twin cam had a leak from the timing case, so head came off, all gaskets replaced, and leak successfully cured. With the carbs out of the way decided to replace points with a Kit 23D Negative Earth electronic ignition from Classic Team Lotus. Engine starts well, runs crisply, but now has a flat spot at high revs. Runs up to 6500rpm absolutely fine, but when you take the next gear there is an initial flat spot that was not there before. Valve timing, ignition timing, carbs all rechecked and all seem as they should be. The only thing changed from pre gasket replacement is the ignition. May/may not be coincidence? All thoughts appreciated. With thanks, Nick
put the points back in and see if it goes away
cheers

If the new distributor still has mechanical advance, it might be worthwhile to check, clean, and lube the advance weights and pivots.
How (many) & are your grounds, can you see fuel pressure?

Sorry. “Grounds”? No, cannot see the fuel pressure.
same immediate thought: any chance there is a fuel starvation at higher revs?
Sure, and if it is revving higher, or a ground has gone away or needs better?
I know not
KISS keep it simple
Start from the beginning
Ground in the US means Earth in the UK. So “grounds” are your Earth connections.
