Full Circle

Hi,
Just a quick note to introduce myself. I recently purchased a 1970 Elan S3.5? It has S4 arches etc but S3 dash and interior.

The last Elan I owned was an S4 40 years ago which I sold to fund the £2000 deposit on my first house. I bought this one for more than I sold the house for!

I was a bit apprehensive driving the new Elan home from Southampton to Kent as I was warned against revisiting my old heroes. However, I loved every second of the journey (apart from 5 minutes at a junction healing and toeing with the clutch in on a hill!).

The car is basically sound with a lot of money already spent on mechanical items. I have a list of 30 mainly small jobs that need doing. Fortunately, I’m one of those people who love to tinker and make things better. I see it as part of the fun of classic car ownership.

I’m a 64-year-old Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a decent workshop at the bottom of the garden (currently occupied with a 1964 Triumph Tiger Cub Trials bike and a 1970 T100 road bike)

I’m sure I will be trawling though the archives and asking numerous questions in due course.

That looks lovely, great colour that really suits the car.

Welcome.

Many thanks

Would look even better if I managed to work out how to rotate the photos the correct way up!

Hello,

Car looks great. I am recently back in the Lotus fold, but +2’s are my thing, though I do appreciate all the varieties.

I’m in Beckenham Kent, are you nearby?

All the best
