Agreed, better sound - and per original!
Longevity of MS is not an issue compared to back in the day, since we tend not to drive our cars those higher mileages.
I have recently obtained a NOS MS silencer/muffler for when mine eventually conks out.

My local muffler shop guaranteed his replacement mufflers against rust out for as long as one owned the car. He would install the new muffler in place, then either drill or punch a 1/8” hole in the lowest portion of the muffler to allow water/condensation to drain out instead of causing it to rust away. Worked exactly as intended.

The same solution can be found on quite a few modern cars. Just look for the carbon track.
