Elan S4 Sprint radiator mounting position

Hi there

After much work to flush and clear the cooling system on my Sprint, it all seems to be running nicely again.

Unfortunately I rather foolishly took the radiator out without taking pictures first (lesson learnt) and when I came to refit it I realised it can be fitted either in front of or behind the mounting brackets.

I have fitted it back in with the radiator brackets in front of the inner-wing mounting brackets, but not sure if this is correct. See my pic here..

I have trawled the tinternet looking for helpful images but cant see any that actually show how it is fitted close up.

Can one of you Elan Oracles pls advise the correct way to fit the radiator? Maybe a picture if you can?

My S4 has the radiator fitted in front of the brackets as you have mounted yours. I think that is how it was when I got the car and have left it like that as it seems to be how the drawing in the service parts book shows the brackets are fitted in relation to the radiator. Also, this way gives a bit of additional space between the radiator and front of the engine. I have attached a photo but note that as my car is an early S4 it has the wider S3 type radiator, though the method of fitting is just the same.

I would also agree with the previous advice given about using glycol based antifreeze.
