Elan s3 new fuel tank

Hi

I’m fitting a new fuel tank to my s3. I bought the tank years ago in axminster. Should i use some material between tank and boot floor or direct to the grp?

I have replaced the tank on my S4 Elan, and bolted it straight onto the fibreglass. My tank is an aluminium replacement and has circular pads welded to the tank where it fits the body. I used washers on the outside of the body the same diameter as the pads on the tank, I used rubber washers between the outside of the body and the washers on the outside of the body.

I don’t know if this is correct, just seemed the way to go.

You should be aiming to get the alignment between the tank neck and the body filler neck as straight as possible. A rubber washer, or two, between the tank and the boot floor can help with this adjustment.
