DHC S1/S2 water ingress

I will use more often my Elan for longer trips this year. I would like to improve water resistance.

For example my doors show these foam seals. Both not original or effective

Could you point me out best way to improve this area a other know leaking area on DHC S1/S2?

Here are a few pictures of what I believe were the way the seals were originally fitted but I don’t think S1 & S2 cars were ever designed to be water tight … Probably the reason why it takes so long to erect the hood and they had rubber mats!

Another point to check is that the fibreglass finishing trim has the drain hole and it is not blocked, it should also have a drain pipe attached inside the door going to the bottom of the door.
