Before and after a few hours with a bending brake and pop rivet gun…the old plastic shell was toast but provided the template for the parts.

That’s a great idea. Never thought of doing that. Although I did something very similar with some interior panels on a 1966 Hillman Minx.
My centre console was also cracked and split underneath. I re-inforced mine with fibreglass. Has been like that now for years.
If that eventually falls apart I’ll get my tin snips out.
New reproduction consoles are available from Famous Frank.
Fibreglass repro centre console bases for late +2’s (I think Frank only does the early ones) are available from SJS and Kelvedon.
