Can anyone tell me what this is?

Hi there. Slight dunce question here but I’ve reassembled the clutch and flywheel back onto the engine. However when i was reviewing the illustrations from the manual I noticed a part that I was not familiar with.

I’m picking this project up after a long hiatus and just wanted to double check I’ve not missed anything.

Have highlighted in the photo!

Thanks for any help you might be able to give me

Hard to tell exactly with the data presented but it appears to be the insert that fits in the flywheel for the pilot bearing to fit into for the Lotus 5 speed ? Not used in the 4 speed as the pilot bearing fits into the crank shaft itself.

cheers
Rohan

It’s the spigot bearing according to the parts list…

So if its for an early Elan that is an other option. So what type of car is it for if I may ask ?

Spigot bearing for 4 bolt crank, usually sintered bronze takes larger diameter gearbox input shaft.
