I have finally got arrangements in process to get my +2 body worked on, and a final fresh coat of paint. After discussion with the shop concluded that fresh gaskets for both front and rear screens was the preferred way forward. Both are original (best of my knowledge) and both suffer serious cracks and a general dry hardness that discourages any hope for preservation.
Can I ask please for advice on sourcing these. I’ve done some research but trust this community to help on preferred sources, and with more generally for things to watch for.
Just fitted a rear screen rubber/gasket from Sue Miller. Went very well, hope to fit the glass today. The rubber has to be cut and glued together so it is not a straight drop in, so make sure the shop knows this and knows what they’re doing. I will also use Sue for the front screen surrounds although mine is bonded. Sue Miller would be my recommendation.
Good advice. I’ll reach out to Sue Miller and get started with the order.
I’m uncertain regarding my front screen, and whether it was bonded at the factory or if it was one of the last assembled before that switch occurred. Or perhaps during the previous paint job it was changed. I’ll ask the body shop to investigate.
