I have bought a new pair of 26R wishbones and were about to fit them on my S4 Elan with the original chassis.
But the wishbones are very different to the standard ones.
At the outer pickup points there is no space so the bush housings would grind on the hub carrier.
The space between is only 138mm. The standard ones are from bush housing to bush housing about 144mm…
And the inner pickup points to the chassis are different, too …
Does the 26R has another chassis pickup points and smaller hub carriers?
Or are there really different wishbones dimensions or were my wishbones fucked up by the welder?
with the rose joints on do they mount ok or are they too tight? I would think some adjustement may/should be possible by way of shimimng (e.g. to set rear toe in), but in your case they could be out of tolerance…
Within factory specs and tolerances (…) chassis are all the same to that respect (26R only had some reinforcements, except the “high back” versions)
I got them from Kelvedon/Kelsport.
I´m waiting for a mail response from Doug. I hope he knows what went wrong.
Maybe there are similar wishbones for other cars like the Europa? and I got the wrong wishbones.
I have sent back the wishbones and ordered the TTR ones.
Already got the TTR wishbones and they will fit without any problems.
Even that the TTRs are more expensive they are blank so I will have to coat them with POR15 before I install these on my car.
