What are these nuts for....

I bought my 26R type chassis from a well know supplier and I have forgotten what he told me the nuts welded to the top of the vacuum chamber are for. Since I’m in the middle of nowhere at the moment and phone calls are well difficult, does anyone have any ideas? I seem to remember something aout bracing??

cheers
Mark

My s4 chassis has welded tabs for locating the front brake piping in those locations so maybe they used some type of screw in clamp on the early cars.

They would make excellent earth points if there is one or two each side that you do not use, clean off the surface and bolt your earths from your front electrics to these.

When I first received my new Spyder chassis, I welded 10 or 12 nuts to the chassis in a variety of places, including the front cross-member. I was trying to anticipate future needs: ground/earth points, brake-line brackets, etc (as already mentioned).

I’ve already forgotten my rationale for most of these extra nuts. In a few more years I will be asking myself “Why did Spyder (not me!) place these nuts here?” and will assume that there must be a standardized use for them.

My advice on your 26R chassis: I you don’t need to use those nuts, don’t worry about them being there.
