Hi All.
Here’s a couple of pics of a non standard, but very effective throttle linkage I built for the Webers on my elan years ago.
The main part of course is the quadrant sector the cable runs in, this was machined from a piece of 5/16" thick plate. (Full circle) a section was cut out and brazed to the original weber spindle lever, which only the central part/half circle was used. The top bracket is bolted to a Stromberg cam cover?
I like the action of this arrangement, it gives excellent throttle feel and is not too light or heavy, the rest of the set up was machined/fabricated as it evolved.
Even made provision for two springs to keep the scrut’s happy at sprint meetings etc.
The linkage set up has been on the car for about 2.5 decades, I have replaced one frayed cable so far… and a quick visit to the friendly motor cycle retailer for a new length of inner cable has the elan back in business pretty quick again. (Yes, a spare cable is carried)
And the reason I made the linkage… The real deal Weber Linkage stuff was a bit overpriced I thought.
This set up is simple, effective & reliable.
