I am adjusting the valve on a freshly rebuilt engine. After break in and run of around 1,000 miles I torqued the head bolts and checked the valves. Bean recommends .009" for the exhaust and .008" for the intake on a .420 cam.
#4 intake was at .016" so I decided to adjust the valves. The top hat shim is what I found.
I believe the spring retainers and keepers are typical … Is there any reason I couldn’t use a standard shim to replace this one?
