Any recomendations where to go to have new tyres fitted? Is it safe to use the obvious places…Ats etc?
Depends where you are.
I do not trust the big chain stores for type fitting. I always use a local specialist who really looks after his clients and their cars.

My +2 under previous ownership had problems with wheel tightness after visiting such a place. An alloy front wheel was fitted incorrectly. They obviously didn’t line up the drive pegs and tightened it up enough to push most of them into (or possibly out of) the hub…
But I’d love to see what happens at an ATS-type place when you arrive with knock-off or octagonal wheel nuts…

I always take the wheels off and take them to a specialist tyre place. That way I dont have to worry about the car being damaged by it being jacked in the wrong place or the people not understanding the quirks of knock ons.
it is espcecially important to go to a specialist if you have Lotus alloys as these have a shallow well and fitting the tyre is very difficult. I go to my local race tyre supplier and he always groans when I bring in the plus 2 wheels saying “not these again”
cheers
