All fantastic photos Christian - thanks for posting, the TdF is an event I’d love to get round to doing some day.

Super photos Christian; let’s hope the Ginetta G4 dudes do not latch on to this event in it’s present form. :imp:

Super pics, Christian! Thanks!

[i][b]Some shoots taken between the specials stages…

#246 , at the end of day 2 is 6th , the XI (the one that finished 2nd last year) is 5th …

superb pictures

Anyone who runs an Elan hard on a road special stage rally with trees beside the road is much braver than me.
You have a lot of very brave Frenchmen to have that many Elans running as hard as your picture show :open_mouth: .

cheers
Rohan

The braver of all is the guy reading the notes .
In the #246 Elan , for that race , Dominique is the mecanic too …
This winter , I was with Jean-Pierre in the car for engine run in and hundreds of kilometers … No need to say that it was impressive , very impressive but never scary . Confidence matter , with the car and driver . In fact , most in the driver.

Or the Guy standing there taking the pictures!

Great thread

Having watched the movie. The award goes to the Renault Alpine for the best drift around the corner

Most of the drivers in that clip were not going at then tenths, then neither would I! Trees are not very forgiving.

Great work, keep the pictures and clips coming.

Fantastic, Christian!

Takes me back to a few tarmac rallies I’ve done in Australia. And yes, you don’t go at ten tenths, but as you make your way up the time sheets, the red mist starts to descend. In 2001, we were 6th, then 4th, then the two leaders went off on one stage, and as we passed them, we thought, we could win this! Then, a few stages later, I missed a call as we were overtaking, and stuffed it into a bank (a “5” does sound a bit like a “9”) - and yet another slot car wins Targa Tasmania. We did our best, but there are so many Porsches in that event, I felt like a lone Spitfire being bounced by a squadron of Messerschmidts. I hope the Elan boys give it to them in the Tour.

Keep the pics coming!

Patrick

Absolutly patrick ,
No “MesserWolfs” from Stuttgart between the winning GT40 and the franco-brit Elan.
To continue with that event , two vid?os full of action :
The first one at Dijon ; a kind of glory day for the #246 as he stay in front of many bigger cars …
youtube.com/results?search_t … +2009&aq=f
And the second at Spa , where after a very good start the green Elan went off at the "bus stop "chicane … No other damages than proud …

Christian
superb!
My stomach flipped and I went for the brake under my desk a couple of times!

Thanks
Terry (CLF member!!!)

Hi Christian,

I did enjoy, thanks for posting up the link.

Doug.

Great video - the elan appears to have more oversteer than is desirable in almost every type of corner - but maybe its just the drivers style of continually turning in more than needed and then releasing it.

cheers
