Source for Cap Head Caliper bolts

Hi all,

In a previous post I asked about plating calipers. I was advised to use hardened cap head bolts to secure the two halves of the caliper together rather than using the original bolts. I have been unable to source these bolts with the proper shank length. I can source ones that have threads the entire length of the shaft but then the bolt would not be as strong for the shearing force of the caliper halves.

Does anyone know where I can source the proper hardened cap head bolts?

Thanks,

Jay S.

These are just about as good as they come, anything here.

Great resource. Thank you!

I have bought socket head cap screws which were longer than needed but with the un-threaded shank closer to the length desired, then cut off the excess threaded portion. A good example are the 10-32 screws on the shift linkage on my Lotus 20/22, but I will be putting my zinc plated calipers back together w/ their original bolts, also plated at the same time.

Roger,

Like you, I decided to use the old screws after I cleaned them up. They should work just fine.

Thanks for your response.
