Has anyone been able to pull the cable attachment lugs off of the air diverter dampers of the heater? I’m guessing that they are pressed into place.
Thanks,
Richard

Yes, pressed.
Also, there made of pot metal so could snap if you’re not careful. Replacements are £50 IIRC from SJS. Ask how I know…

…a pair of screwdriver blades and something for fulcrums under either side and lever them off against the casing. A little bit of heat will help too.
It has been a very long time, but I don’t think I took mine off. Put new foam on the hot/cold [err hot warm] door and new rubber on the floor vent door without really disassembling. Guess I pulled the box apart.
Having that floor vent as tight as you can get it is really important for defroster function. All the air goes down then up so if the floor vent leaks, no defrost
Learn from my mistake, mark lever positions on the shafts and/or take a photos before disassembly…

JonB, thanks for the smile today, I know the feeling. I will proceed carefully, pot metal pressed onto a steel shaft almost 54 years ago. What could go wrong.
