Is it possible to fit Elise Mk 1 seats or other alternatives in a 72 Sprint.
Just looking at the options before deciding the way forward - I think my seats could be saved if necessary but will need re-upholstering.
thanks

There was an Elan on this years Sporting Car Club of Norfolk ‘Midsummer Run’ in Norfolk that had Elise seats in - I think the owner was from Dereham. They looked good and the owner stated they fitted without to much work required.
Hi Chris
I’m running leather Elise Mk 2 seats in my Sprint.
The sub frames needed careful thought (I am tall and the set up is height sensitive) and I decided to reinforce the floor locally to spread the loads but the effort was worth while - they are really comfortable and you get a head restraint.
My advice is to keep the originals for when you sell the car and go for it.

Gavin
Please post up some pictures and more details of what you had to do to fit them.
Thanks for promt replies…I love this forum
Photos would be great

I am struggling to download photos.
If the enclosed don’t appear, please could you let me know how to download them.
Thanks
Gavin
There is a maximum size limit for attached photos. Check they are not too big before trying to upload them.
Steve
Thanks for the link.
The photos are jpegs and are too big. I’ve tried changing the format to tif. bitmap etc but that makes the file larger not smaller.
How do I reduce the size?
Failing that, give me an email address and I’ll email them to you
Thanks
Gavin
To scale the image down you will need some imaged editing software.
I use gimp.org/
There was a Sprint at Donnington this year which had been professionally modified to full Spyder / Zetec spec…it looked stunning. The seats were from Demon Tweaks, I think. Looking good.

Neat installation of the Elise seats
Did you fix them at the rear or do they still tip forward like the originals?
Steve
I tried letting them pivot as the originals but the frame twisted a little so I ended up bolting them down at the back. They now run much better.
The subframes were tricky to get right - they didn’t line up with the sloping grp runner positions on the body moulding. I suggest that this is your start point.
The difficulty for me was that I wanted to run my Chapman steering wheel and because I am tall, the height and legroom clearance was critical. At one stage I had in effect one subframe over another which was too tall for me to clear my knees.
My compromise was to add a moulding to the inside of the original GRP runner at the back of the seat position to create a smooth surface for the rear subframe to sit on and fix to.
I hope this helps
Gavin
I know they are all bolted in now but…
A picture paints a thousand words. Any chance of a drawing, picture etc of the seat mounting hardware?
Where abouts are you?
Currently looking for a clean pair of Elise seats.
Steve
I’m just south of St Albans (Herts) about 5 miles from the M10.
I have a busy few weeks up to the Bank Holiday but things should ease off after that. You’re welcome to have a look if you want. if you do, PM me with a phone number and I’ll give you a shout)
If not, I’ll try a sketch but my drawing skills are very weak.
I can’t remember if my seats are Mk 2 elise or Exige. They are leather and very comfortable. i’m not so sure that the early Elise seats are as comfortable - but i am prejudiced because of my height (6’1")
Let me know either way.
All the best
Gavin
