S3 carpets

I am getting close to cutting and installing new carpets. I have the old carpeting and am using it to make my patterns.

In front of the seats are removable carpet mats that are bound around the edges which I believe snap in place directly above the felt. My removable carpets mats don’t fill the entire floor area. My question is did the surrounding carpets go down onto the floor to fill in around the removable mat, or have my mats shrunk over time?

Thanks,

Rick

In my case the loop pile carpet panels had frayed to the point where they were smaller than original, so I simply allowed additional material so the floor mats would fit without gaps.

Thanks for the info. The bottom of mine were frayed as well.

The glued on pieces which surround the cockpit floor should turn out onto the flat of the floor about an inch or so and can be trimmed back as needed. If you are looking for the rubber ribbed material which makes up the rub pad for the tunnel and the floor mats, go to Home Depot in the carpet dept. The ribbed mat is from RubberCal worlduph.com/

Greg, I was assuming the side carpets filled the gap, but wasn’t sure.

Thanks for the info on the rubber and binding. That saved me hours of looking.
