Dear Sirs
Could someone please advise me on the conversion of a Lotus Elan from Right hand drive to Left hand drive - which parts need to be modified or replaced, and what would me the approximate cost? Is it a complicated job or straightforward? A long does it typically takes to do such a conversion? Thanks to all, kindest regards
Edgar Albuquerque
Edgar,
Dont know anything about it myself but there was a discussion on this a while ago,
go to the Elan section and in the search box enter “CONVERT” you will find a thread with some posts which may help you.
Rgds Brian.
and why would you want to do this? MY 7 IS RHD BEEN THAT WAY FOR 20 YEARS NO PROBLEMS–ED LAW
You would need the following components from a LHD Elan.
Steering Rack
Dashboard
pedals
throttle cable
This was discussed on the Yahoo Elan list a while back, the link to the start is
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/lotuse…nt=-30&expand=1
messages start at 10440, the title is Pedal Box Arangment
the throttle cable is the easy part, cost is what ever you end up paying plus the possible loss/gain in resale value of your Elan.

It was also discussed on this site a few months ago as well. Go back through the old threads and you’ll find it.
