On turning right, slow speed quite a lot of lock i get what sounds like a rotational knocking, which to me is from the rear, I’ve checked everything on front.
Anyone got any suggestions on a list to start checking everything. Chassis has been rebuilt all new bushes etc and CV driveshafts
I had the same thing with new CV joints. One was really tight and wouldn’t flex.,
I verified this by swapping the axles, side to side, and the noise followed. The
knocking eventually went away and the joint was ‘free’.
After my Elan S4 was restored I had exactly the same symptoms.
In my case a slightly proud wheel balance weight was touching a suspension part every revolution.
hope this helps
One more for the wheel weight issue - I got it when I moved the wheels around to balance tyre wear. There is very little clearance between the wheel and outer wish bone bolts. Definitely worth checking!
I’ve have gone over whole car, checked all torques, clearance etc. interestingly yes one of the weights was just touching the wish bone bolts, weight now suitably filed down, diff brace fitted, i noted that the the front ARB has flat washers instead of cups which my last thing to change, then back on road and see what happens
Car in air, checked all bolts, clearances, installed diff brace which lowered diff to circa 10mm height to chassis, swapped wheels over as one had a mini wear line from touching something and knocking noise gone. I cannot put finger on specific issue, but resolved nonetheless.
