I’m just reassembling the rear suspension and I wonder if anyone knows if there are rubber spring mounts that one can purchase?
To explain further - with modern cars the springs sit in a rubber pad rather than the metal spring end just sitting in the upper and lower metal spring cups and this seems a better way to avoid banging metal and paint removal…

Hi Richard,
If any help, I got some hardish (not sure which shore hardness) 5mm thick rubber sheet (used a contact at Gates, Dumfries) cut it into rings and glued them to the top n bottom mounts.
I have to admit that I am not sure how much help, they are on the rear only of course, I 'think' they help but am not sure. The car's only done about 1800 ish miles. I am not sure they are still there! :unamused:
I think some good thick grease lightly applied top n bottom would be fine.
Had to try the rubber though eh? Another case of improvement not required??

Hi Alex
Well I found some old rubber bushes from my E30 M3 which were larger in diameter and cut them down to suit the Lotus dimensions - glued the join together and will do the job nicely - will try to upload the pics…![]()
