Hi
I have a problem with my rear dampers. I’m installing my rear shock absorbes but I can’t tighten the upper washer. I have rebuild my old konis and bought secondhand rear uprights. Are the dampers too long? Are my Konis incorrect…
Cheers
Diego

There should be a gap of 1 to 4mm when the collar is tightened according to the koni instructions i have seen .
Hi Diego,
Is the gap symmetric side to side?
Yes is symmetric!
The fixing nuts vary between manufacturers because the dampers vary in size, but those supplied should be correct unless your housing is shorter than normal.
The type you need has a tube with the securing thread on the outside that fits between damper and the tube with a large washer welded on the top to press on the top of the damper. This washer has flats on its edges, or be hexagonal/octagonal to tighten it up. Here’s one without a strut in the tube.
