amyone else surprised to see a Cortina possibly going for more than a Sprint on eBay? I mean, that Cortina is rarer, but still…Elans are pretty rare too.
wow.
It is a !WOW! but supply and demand (based on condition) set all market prices when advertised properly. I expect it to go a lot higher, it’s at 32,500 now.
I saw this car at the Palo Alto Concours this summer. Won best of Class.
Very sanitary and correct.
Here is a link to some more info on this LoCort

This car has everything going for it. The dollar is in the toilet, its one of the nicest LHD LoCorts around, has a pretty good known history, one of 186 exported by Ford of England to the U.S., one of less than 700 LHD built, one of approximately 3100 Mk1 Lotus Cortina’s built at Lotus between 1963 and 1966 and probably a few more. I think the price will go higher

It’s probably one of the best original LoCorts in the world, and with poorly restored rubbish fetching ?15,000 and reasonable cars ?25,000 in the UK, it should make way more. Can’t beat an original dry state car.

Not that Gregs Lotus Cortina is anywhere close to being in the same catigory as JTW 498C, but this is an impressive amout of cash for a works LoCort with a little something special.
I guess we may never know the outcome of your question.
“The seller ended the listing early and cancelled all bids.”

I would also very much like to know why the Cortina sells for so much. Isn’t the Sunbeam a cooler collaboration and aren’t they loads cheaper?
