I always knew reassembling these was going to be fun. I purchased new seals from Susan Miller, the bottom quarter light seal looks bloody hopeless. Any comments or brilliant suggestions, yes I can fill the gap with PU sealer but I shouldn’t have to. What have other done?
I purchased quarter light window rubber from Kelvedon as shown. The deeper profile pieces go on the rear and bottom frames while the short profile goes on the front frame. My existing windows have a gummy type sealer, not the rubber weatherstrip piece. Your picture does not show the weatherstrip being trapped by the frame which may be why it is flaring out.

I did wonder if the sides of the seal would be closed up towards the glass when all in situ, but looking at the remnants of the old bottom seal it was a very different/shallower section. The other seals I have look similar to your photo, I have tried sliding them into the frame, even lubricating with silicone grease and ptfe spay, I have yet to manage to slide them more than half way into the frame before they get well and truly stuck.
I didn’t have to do that part, but I’m puzzling over the seals that go along the top of the door / bottom of the opening. Sue Miller has supplied me all the clips, washers and seals but I’m not sure how it all goes together, anyone done this or have details?
There is a diagram in the parts manual i think. But you fit spire clips to the steel frame, then use very short* screws to fasten the chrome trim clips to the outside, with the screw passing through the seal and into the spire clips mount to the steel.
This sandwiches the seal between the door skin and steel.
*If the are two long then can come in contact with the window.
Thanks Mbell
That clarifies it nicely for the outer seal and trim.
I’m still scratching my head a bit on the metal backed felt seal and how that fits, I’m assuming it fits on the inside somehow, but as I didn’t take it apart I’m not 100% sure and the parts list diagram is rather small to see the detail.
Is it about aslong as the glass is wide? Any holes?
My car just has a piece of steel the the spire clips go on behind the rubber, but the back of that being felt backed would make sense for protecting the glass.
I think the seal is 32, and the strip in question could be 33?

Yes, looks like it would be 33, will post pictures of it tomorrow with some sizes.
worth confirming you have the correct clips. the frame clips in from above as do the clips. I somehow ended up with clips that could only work if the seal was fitted from below. I reordered from SJ. the clips are placed, the waist seal then screwed into place (with the outer waist trim strip clips fitted). Then the (precut) inner seal pushed in (with a screwdriver)… at least, this is how I did it… hope this makes some sense.
