Hi my 1972 plus 2 has welcoming lights about 12 inches below the door catch inlaid into my doors, they have a red lense which show rearwards when doors open…
My Nov '72 +2 also has 2 plunger switches, the rearmost one works the interior lights, whilst the front one works lights in the rear edge of the door which are positioned as “rocket” says. I found the contacts of the door switches corroded and had to remove them (by crawling into the footwells and undoing a nut from the inside) and clean them up before they’d work.
If I remember rightly, my '73 plus 2 also has “puddle lights” in the bottom of the doors in addition to the rearward facing red “warning lights”. The puddle light lenses are white.
I know see in Paul Matty’s catalogue ‘puddle lights’ are listed (although I don’t know whether they are still available). It makes no listing on the red rear facing ones.
Are they large lights or just small red ones like dash warning lights?
MJS, MY 1972 PLUS 2 4 SPEED HAS WHITE PUDDLE AND REAR FACING RED DOOR LIGHTS, ALL CONTROLLED VIA ONE DOOR PLUNGER SWITCH. THE WHITE PUDDLE LIGHTS ARE AVAILABLE NEW (TRIUMPH ITEM).
REGARDS
Good picture of the red light on rearward edge of door but where is the so-called puddle light, that is supposedly white, located; anybody post a pic, thanks Gordon Sauer
