Plus 2 130/5 door lights?

My December 1972 registered +2 130/5 has not one, but two contacts on the doors to control the interior lights.

I have just been told the extra switch is because the 130/5 models had ‘welcome’ lights in the doors - mine doesn’t seem to.

Is this info correct, or in typical Lotus fashion have I something missing? A photo of what should be there would be fantastic.

Cheers,

Mark.

Hi my 1972 plus 2 has welcoming lights about 12 inches below the door catch inlaid into my doors, they have a red lense which show rearwards when doors open…

My Nov '72 +2 also has 2 plunger switches, the rearmost one works the interior lights, whilst the front one works lights in the rear edge of the door which are positioned as “rocket” says. I found the contacts of the door switches corroded and had to remove them (by crawling into the footwells and undoing a nut from the inside) and clean them up before they’d work.

If I remember rightly, my '73 plus 2 also has “puddle lights” in the bottom of the doors in addition to the rearward facing red “warning lights”. The puddle light lenses are white.

Interesting that Barry.

I know see in Paul Matty’s catalogue ‘puddle lights’ are listed (although I don’t know whether they are still available). It makes no listing on the red rear facing ones.

Are they large lights or just small red ones like dash warning lights?

Thanks

Mark.

This is what the red light in the passenger door of my 1971 S130 looks like.

MJS, MY 1972 PLUS 2 4 SPEED HAS WHITE PUDDLE AND REAR FACING RED DOOR LIGHTS, ALL CONTROLLED VIA ONE DOOR PLUNGER SWITCH. THE WHITE PUDDLE LIGHTS ARE AVAILABLE NEW (TRIUMPH ITEM).
REGARDS

My 1968 +2 has puddle lights so I suspect they are a standard item.

And a very nice touch I think!

Thanks everyone. I can only assume when the body was rebuilt by the PO it has had a change of door. Will set out to bring things back to spec. Cheers.

MJS.

Good picture of the red light on rearward edge of door but where is the so-called puddle light, that is supposedly white, located; anybody post a pic, thanks Gordon Sauer

Picture of the white puddle light taken from underneath the passenger door of my +2 S130.

My +2S (1970) has the rear facing lights so I guess they came in with the +2S i.e. before the S130.
