does anyone have some good quality pictures of a white elan fhc? I would be grateful for a few. Trying to decide on a colour for my S4. I was going to do it Regency Red but having some second thoughts.

Mark, here are two pictures, I have more if needed. I went with BRG.

Sarto

look for Gino1’s posts , he did an amazing job on an FHC -

You can’t go wrong with either one .

Cirrus White was the colour chosen by Lotus to launch the S4, and it looks good! In colour or black & white.

What colour was your car originally?

Mark

…only took me about a year to decide. Photoshop helped.

Mine was white when I bought it 21 years ago, but I painted it Gold Leaf colors 3 years ago. I found out that it was originally red.

The front bumper strip was removed by a previous Owner and was glassed-over, so it’s now seamless and painted to match the body. The rear bumper was painted a semi-gloss black.

Hi Mark,

This is mine, not standard so probably not the done thing. I like it as I haven’t seen any in Grey before - somebody is bound to post loads now!

Regards
Steve

Mine was Bahama yellow but I wanted something a bit brighter

Royal blue

Mine is the white coupe. It’s Mazda Miata white done in 88.
The yellow 65 S2 was a perfect car. First in Class At Hillsborough CA. Concours last weekend.

thanks guys…
was that pistachio green?

I used to dislike Bahama Yellow, especially compared with Lotus Yellow, but it’s grown on me now. Many were re-painted as it was seen as a very ‘early seventies’ colour, but for me, that’s what makes it look good now!

Even in a field of Elans, this one really stood out, and makes an interesting change from the normal red, white, blue or yellow cars.

Mark

That is nice!
I was planning to paint my “Banks” Europa a similar colour.
The guy who bought the project from me had it painted in “Gold Leaf” colours, how unimaginative :unamused:
John

How about black and white

Tell us more! Nothing more facinating than an Elan needing help!!!

Mark

Hi mark

Dont really know much about it. It stood outside that house in the Durham dales for a number of years. I asked at the house and was told by an old lady that she was tired of people knocking and asking about it.It belonged to someone that was going to restore it !!!
Next time I passed it had been washed but didnt look much better and now it has gone. It was next to a busy road and lots of people new about it. Hopefully it is being restored somewhere.

Mark,

The colour of my sprint is not pistachio…but not that different except bolder

I was at the paint shop with the colour codes for red over white when I started looking through their paint chips and saw the bright green colour !

Obviously not to everyones liking but I like it :sunglasses:

If you’re looking for a color for a FHC, red has to be the hands down winner, at least on the early cars. The painit on my FHC was and is still bad, maybe a good 50 foot paint job, but in the Pennsylvania sun after morning showers, it was a wonderful day to be in an Elan.
