I’m almost 6’6" and “it’s a bit of a squeeze” getting into my recently acquired S3 FHC. With the seats out, no problem…
I took the seat out of my Caterham (a Tillett similar to their B6 model) which fits fine loose. This has very deep sides, so for day to day use is a bit of a pain to get in and out of. I have borrowed a Tillet B5 (which has a much flatter seat profile, with no sides to it) and whilst the seat is fine loose, as it’s side mounted, once the mounts are in place, I lose the vital clearance I need…
Has anyone deconstructed/rebuilt the original seat to drop the effective seat height?
I’d be interested in any other options/suggestions.
I did make my own fixings to get the seats lower without using runners.
The seat bottom is now very close to the floor.
Adjusting range is very limited but it is made to fit for myself well.
I use seats that are designed for caterham use. They are nearly of the same shape like the tillets.
Hi Christian, I see how you’ve overcome the other issue I had - namely the moulding in the body which creates the non flat floor area just behind the standard seat mounting points. I think custom brackets are the solution here. Thanks
I’m a tad under 6’5" with my 26R, due to the roll cage I lowered the rear of the floor pan only an inch which with incline fo seat lower me enough tot clear roll cage.
